A butter yellow katan silk saree handwoven in Varanasi, the body laid in a fine self-tone gold zari jaali — a delicate diamond mesh ground — and brought to life with an all-over multicolour kadwa meenakari jaal. Roses and blossoms in pink, red, blue and purple wind through soft green leaves, almost painterly, each motif woven individually into the cloth. A wide gold zari pallu, dense with diamond brocade, finishes the saree. In kadwa weaving, each motif is woven separately on the loom rather than carried across the back, so every flower sits clean and self-contained on the silk.
