A sky blue Banarasi saree in pure Katan silk, drawn over with Kadhua peacock motifs that catch the light against the soft ground. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, with the peacocks repeating along the anchal and border. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. A peacock motif at this scale is a small architectural decision — the tail, body and crest each need their own weft pickup, and across an entire saree the placement has to read as evenly as it began. That is the kind of slow loom work the price of a Banarasi reflects. The drape carries a second weave: Ektara. Where Kadhua gives the piece its precision, Ektara gives it its hand — softer, flowier, with a deeper gloss and an easier hand to drape. Styling Note Drape Nivi to let the peacocks repeat cleanly across the front. Pair with antique-gold or polki — sky blue with yellow accents takes warm gold beautifully. A mustard, gold or ivory raw silk blouse holds the palette.
