A Katan silk Banarasi saree in rich rani pink, worked in Kadhua and laid out as an Aada Jangla — scrolling vines and florals carried unbroken across the body in the Aada (diagonal) repeat. The anchal continues the language of the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the jaal, the anchal and the framing edges are all built in gold. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. What makes a Jangla rare is its refusal to repeat. The vine pattern carries on across the full body of the drape, every leaf finding its place without breaking the rhythm. Weaving that level of unbroken composition takes months of pit-loom work — Banarasi at its most exacting. Styling Note Drape Nivi-style; the Aada Jangla composition rewards a clean front pleat. Pair with kundan, polki or antique-gold; a blouse in deeper rose, wine or ivory raw silk lets the pink ground stay luminous.
