A handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saree in deep red, with Kadhua guldasta floral bouquets placed across the body in measured rhythm. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — an intricate Banarasi border frames the drape on every edge, finishing in an aanchal that carries the guldasta into the pallu. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. A Kadhua guldasta is one of the more architectural motifs on the Banarasi loom — every stem, every petal, every leaf is placed thread by thread, with its own weft. The weaver has to hold the bouquet together across multiple picks, and the discipline of that placement is what gives a guldasta drape its sense of being painted into the cloth rather than printed onto it. The drape carries a second weave: Ektara. Where Kadhua gives the piece its precision, Ektara gives it its hand — softer, flowier, with a deeper gloss and an easier hand to drape. Styling Note Drape Nivi-style with the pallu pleated wide so the guldasta reads across the pallu. Pair with polki, kundan or classic gold and a tonal red, deep maroon or contrast ivory raw silk blouse. Weave Kadhua & Ektara Motif Kadhua Guldasta (floral bouquet) Za
