A handwoven Banarasi Georgette silk saree in jewel-toned magenta, drawn over with Sona Rupa Kadhua motifs — gold and silver zari worked thread by thread across the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — an intricate Banarasi border frames the drape, with the aanchal closing the composition in the same dual-metal register. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Sona Rupa is the Banarasi tradition of weaving gold and silver zari in tandem — the two metals introduced motif by motif so the cloth carries both warmth and cool light at once. Layered with Kadhua, every butti is built into the cloth thread by thread, and the dual zari makes the motif read in two registers depending on how the light falls. The luxury is in the cumulative skill. Styling Note Drape Nivi-style with the pallu pleated narrow so the Sona Rupa work catches the light. Pair with kundan or polki, and a tonal rani pink, contrast plum or ivory raw silk blouse.
