A pure Kora silk Banarasi saree in a soft grey ground, drawn over with floral motifs in multiple colours placed thread by thread across the body. The Kora silk gives the drape its translucence; the multicoloured blooms read clearly against the quiet field. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — with coloured resham laid in alongside the zari at the motifs. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. A drape worked in Kadhua holds its own time — weeks of pit-loom work behind every metre, every butti set deliberately into the weft. That investment of hours, more than any single ornament, is what makes a Banarasi piece a luxury textile rather than a printed one. Styling Note Drape Nivi or Bengali; the Kora silk falls beautifully in a soft pleat. Pair with kundan or polki — the coloured motifs answer multicoloured stones. A blouse in dove grey, ivory or soft champagne raw silk lets the florals sit forward.
