Red Meenadar Pure Silk Handloom Banarasi Jangla Saree

A handwoven Banarasi Pure Katan Silk saree in deep red, with a Jangla of vines and florals enamelled in Meenadar — coloured silk meenakari sitting alongside zari. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border carries a continuous pattern that frames the drape on every edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Meenadar is where the colour of a Banarasi enters the weave itself — coloured resham silks are laid alongside the zari to enamel the motifs from within. Each colour change demands its own pick at the loom, which is why a Meenadar piece carries the slow patience of a brocade and the depth of a painted miniature in the same length of cloth. Styling Note A Nivi drape carries this composition best — the pallu placed long over the shoulder so the border reads in full down the front. Pair with polki or kundan jewellery to echo the zari, and a matching red raw silk or contrast ivory tissue blouse to keep the focus on the weave.
