

A handwoven pure Katan silk Banarasi saree in olive green, with meenakari motifs in coloured silk and zari drawn over the body thread by thread. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, the Meenadar enamel layered alongside the gold and the anchal carrying an anchor motif in keeping with the body. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Meenadar work is the closest a Banarasi weave comes to enamelling — each motif outlined first in zari, then filled with coloured silk weft in a separate pass at the loom. The two-pass logic doubles the weaving time, and the placement discipline is what makes the finished piece read as jewel-bright. Styling Note A Nivi drape lets the Meenadar field unfold along the body. Style with antique gold or kundan; the olive ground holds warm metals beautifully.
