A handwoven Banarasi Pure Katan Silk saree in emerald green, with a Chinar Jangla of scrolling vines and florals that runs through the body without pause. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border carries a continuous pattern that frames the drape on every edge. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Kadhua is among the most patient of Banarasi techniques — each motif is built into the cloth with its own weft, never embroidered on after. The weaver carries dozens of small shuttles across a single pick, switching between them as the design demands. A single saree of this kind can take weeks at the pit loom, and the patience required is precisely what gives Banarasi its weight and its glow. Styling Note A Nivi drape carries this composition best — the pallu placed long over the shoulder so the border reads in full down the front. Pair with polki, kundan or antique gold jewellery to echo the zari, and a tonal green raw silk or contrast antique-gold tissue blouse to keep the focus on the weave.
