A baby pink Banarasi saree in pure Katan silk, drawn over with Tanchoi Adda meenakari — densely packed motifs in coloured silk and zari worked into the satin ground. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, with the meena lighting the buttis from inside the weave. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. A Tanchoi is one of the most demanding setups on a Banarasi pit loom. The pattern is held in the structure itself, and with Meenadar layered in, the weaver works two compositions at once — silk colour and zari — across the same field. The result is a cloth that reads in two materials simultaneously. Styling Note Drape Nivi for a clean satin sweep, or Bengali for a softer pallu. Pair with polki or kundan; baby pink reads beautifully under warm gold. A deeper rose, peach or ivory raw silk blouse holds the palette.
