Inspired by the doors and windows of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, this piece captures their timeless charm as sunlight filters in through their colourful glass panels. These eye-catching and striking wiro-bound notebooks are ideal for writing, doodling, scrapbooking, sketching and for stationery hoarders. This artwork is part of the Darwaza series made by Aditi Maithreya. The original paintings of this series were made as part of The Sketchbook Project of the Brooklyn Art Library in New York. The series was primarily made using watercolours. Each door in this collection is inspired by doors from across India and comes with a personal touch in terms of elements like colour, aesthetics and so on. Every painting also has a woman donning traditional or contemporary apparel - capturing a little of the vast cultural fabric of the country. The concept has a deeper significance as well. The doors lead you to new beginnings with every woman standing on the threshold of a new life. There is an element of positivity and hope in every painting!
