A lilac pink katan silk saree handwoven in Varanasi in the resham tanchoi technique, the soft lavender body worked in an ikat-style chevron jaal — arrowed zigzags in pink and cream resham that ripple across the silk. Wide silver-toned borders and a broad striped pallu frame the design. Tanchoi is among the finest of Banarasi weaves — multiple resham weft threads woven into a smooth, satin-like surface with no floats on the reverse, so the colour is carried in the silk itself. The ikat-effect pattern gives this saree a soft, contemporary character. Suited to festive gatherings, day functions and celebrations — pairs well with emerald, jade or green stone jewellery.
A mood, an occasion, a feeling, matched to real, wearable pieces from independent Indian brands.
