

A pure Katan silk Banarasi saree in soft lilac, with a Chinar Jangla layout — scrolling vines and chinar-leaf florals carried unbroken across the full body of the drape. The composition runs continuous from selvedge to anchal. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the chinar leaves, the vine pattern and the framing edges are all built in gold. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Jangla is the most ambitious of Banarasi compositions — a continuous flowering field that does not break. The weaver carries the vine pattern unbroken across every metre of the drape, and any slip in placement would show. That discipline, sustained over weeks of weaving, is the luxury. Styling Note Drape Nivi or Lehenga-style; the long Jangla composition rewards a clean pleat at the front. Pair with antique-gold, polki or kundan, and choose a blouse in deeper purple, mauve or ivory raw silk.
