A pure Katan silk Banarasi saree in a rich, jewel-toned pink, with meenakari motifs enamelled in coloured silk alongside zari on a Tanchoi satin ground. Each motif carries its own palette — small enamelled blooms holding colour against the pink field. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — and laid in beside the meena work so the figures glow against the ground. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Meenadar is the jewel-work of Banarasi weaving: the motifs are enamelled in coloured silk alongside the zari, so each blossom carries its own palette. That doubling of resham and gold is what gives Meenadar its glow — and why a Meenadar drape reads like illuminated manuscript rather than plain brocade. Styling Note Drape Nivi with the anchal lightly pleated over the shoulder. Pair with kundan or polki — the meena work answers coloured stones beautifully. A blouse in deeper rose, wine or ivory raw silk lets the meena tones lead.
