Black on black. This kora tissue dupatta from the Watermark collection is woven on a black organza warp with a metallic black zari weft — a construction that produces a fabric that is deeply, completely dark. The result is a rich, lustrous black with a subtle metallic quality that only reveals itself in raking or directional light. The spider web brocade is woven into the base fabric itself, but because both warp and weft are black, the pattern is entirely tonal — fine concentric web forms that whisper across the surface rather than announce themselves, visible as a shift in texture and light rather than a contrast in colour. Single layer, organza-weight, sheer at the edges. The border is woven in cotton jacquard with extra warp and weft — denser and more structured than the airy body, a matte black frame against the body's quiet lustre. Black twisted tassels finish the ends. The dupatta drapes with the natural crispness of kora tissue — it holds its shape, moves with a slight rustle, and has enough body to sit well whether worn as a traditional drape or used as a stole or wrap over contemporary dress. All-black is the most versatile and the most demanding colour in the metallic
