Lemon Yellow Kadhua Motif Silk Handloom Saree

A lemon yellow Banarasi saree in pure katan silk, carrying thread-by-thread Kadhua butti laid across the field with measured spacing. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the border runs the length of the drape with a steady, unbroken rhythm. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. What separates a Kadhua weave from its cheaper cousins is the absence of long weft floats on the reverse — every motif is built in and tied off rather than carried across the cloth. That single decision adds days to the loom time and is the reason Kadhua remains a fundamentally hand process. The result is a Banarasi that reads as one continuous textile, body and motif, never decoration laid on top. Styling Note A Nivi drape carries this composition best — the pallu placed long over the shoulder so the border reads in full down the front. Pair with antique gold or pearl jewellery to echo the zari, and a ivory raw silk or contrast lemon tissue blouse to keep the focus on the weave.
