Black, one shoulder, midi length with a front knot that defines the waist without a belt or structure underneath. The La Verna is an evening dress for women who want the silhouette to do the work. The print is a collaboration with Scottish artist David Swift, hand block-printed by Deaf artisans across the full length of the dress. Each motif is part of a larger visual world, detailed enough to hold attention across an evening, distinct enough not to need accessories competing with it. Cotton is light enough to move in. The single sleeve and bare shoulder keep it from reading as heavy despite the black base. The knot at the front pulls the fabric in and creates drape rather than cling.
A mood, an occasion, a feeling, matched to real, wearable pieces from independent Indian brands.
