

The ground is already doing something remarkable before the bootis even register. This kora tissue dupatta is woven with an organza warp and a zari weft — the tissue construction that gives the fabric its characteristic metallic warmth. The beige-ivory ground shifts between pale champagne and warm antique gold depending on the light and angle, the zari weft surfacing as a fine all-over shimmer within the sheer organza base. The fabric is lightweight and fluid, with the airy, effortless drape of a fine tissue. Across this metallic ground, scattered kadhuan brocade bootis are placed at measured intervals across the full body. Each booti is woven individually in the kadhuan technique — thread by thread, with no floating wefts between motifs, leaving the reverse of the fabric clean. The bootis are small and jewel-like, rendered in yellow silk and silver/white silk with a fine turquoise-mint accent — three colours working together in each tiny motif, creating a delicate multicolour scatter against the warm metallic ground.
