A rani-pink Banarasi saree in pure Katan silk, with Kadhua butterfly motifs drawn thread by thread across the body. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari, with the butterflies repeating along the border and closing the anchal in a considered placement. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. A jaal of butterflies at this density is not embroidered after; every wing is built into the weave thread by thread. That kind of patience is what gives Banarasi its weight and its glow — the textile is a luxury precisely because the weaving time cannot be hurried. The drape carries a second weave: Ektara. Where Kadhua gives the piece its precision, Ektara gives it its hand — softer, flowier, with a deeper gloss and an easier hand to drape. Styling Note Drape Nivi to let the butterflies repeat cleanly across the front. Pair with kundan or polki — rani pink takes gold beautifully. A magenta, fuchsia or ivory raw silk blouse extends the palette.
