A handwoven Banarasi Satin silk saree in cool grey, drawn over with a Jamawar Tanchoi composition that fills the body with densely packed multi-colour motifs. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — an intricate Banarasi border frames the drape on every edge, with the aanchal echoing the multi-colour Jamawar rhythm. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. Jamawar is the multi-colour layering of Tanchoi — coloured resham threads are introduced alongside the zari so the motifs hold their own palette against the ground. The result is a textile that reads almost like woven embroidery, except every colour is built into the cloth itself. A piece this dense takes patient, slow loom hours, and the luxury is in the cumulative weight of the placement.
