A handwoven Banarasi stole in soft beige and yellow, drawn over with densely packed Tanchoi motif work that runs from edge to edge. The motif rhythm sits cleanly within the satin-faced ground, and the border-edges close the composition without breaking the field. The motifs, anchal and border are all woven in zari — the pattern extends to the selvedge so the drape reads as one continuous piece. Handwoven in Varanasi on a traditional pit loom. A Tanchoi composition is densely packed at the loom but reads as a continuous, satin-faced field. Because the pattern is carried entirely by warp and weft — no extra weft floats behind the body — the reverse is almost as clean as the front, and the drape lies smoothly without weight. Styling Note Drape the stole loose across the shoulders, or knotted long at the front. It pairs with antique-gold studs or a single jhumka, and sits well over a tonal kurta in ivory, dove grey or champagne silk.
